Greetings from IMPACT,

For those of you who have kiddos here at IMPACT, everything is going just grand and I sincerely see God working in each of our hearts.  I just needed to take a second to remind and inform of some things going on in the next couple of weeks.  First the reminders...

 HERE

Happenings this Upcoming Week:

This Sunday Night June 28th
We will not be gathering together this Sunday evening.

Tuesday June 30th - Movie
For those who want, we are going to get together and go to a movie to see "Inside Out" next Tuesday.  As of now, it says there is a 1:50pm showing so we will plan on that.  Either drop them off at the building at 1:00pm and we will go from there or if it's easier, they can meet us there.

Wednesday July 1st - Worship
We will be getting together for a time of devotion and worship

Thursday July 2nd - Splish Splashtastic
At 3:00pm on next Thursday we will be getting out the grand ole slip and slide and take to some H2O shenanigans.  After we finish, we will order pizza and have dinner together.  They need $3 and we will be done at 7:00pm.

Saturday July 4th - Lake Day
As usual we will be participating in the 4th of July festivities at Sunshine pointe.  Everyone is to bring canned drinks.  Starts at 1:00pm and ends at the firework's finale.

Money, Mission and Waterfalls

Alrighty, I just have a couple of things to remind and some new info to roll out there to you.

Wednesday Night
UY will be meeting together this Wednesday night at 6:00pm but will not be meeting together next week.

IMPACT Money is Due
Remaining Balance for JR. - $130
Remaining Balance for SR. - $190

Sneedville Mission - July 8th-12
We are planning to return to Sneedville to work with the families and children in that community. The cost will be $60.  I really can't say enough about this opportunity to simply love people and be Jesus in a place with so little hope.  If any of you as parents are interested in joining us, please jump on in on this.  My vision is for this to develop into a family oriented missions point... so the more of you guys who can get connected there, the better.

UY CAMP - July 19th- 24th - Cost is $115 -  DEADLINE TO SIGN UP IS JULY 5th!!
I am giddy with excitement. Camp, in my opinion, is the greatest thing we do all year. There is just something incredibly special about getting away in God's great creation for a week together that just can't be replicated in any other way.  I say all of that to strongly suggest that you get your teen to be a part of camp with us.  We will again be returning to Fall Creek Falls State park in Pikeville, TN to spend the week together growing spiritually, worshiping and just having fun. You will need to register your teen online HERE and money ($115) can be given to me.  Checks payable to UCC.   Again, deadline for sign up is JULY 5th.

Hang, Gender specific fun, Sunburn, Hang again and It's all about the Benjamin's

This Upcoming Week

Wednesday
UY participants will be gathering together this Wednesday night at 6:00pm for a time of worship and devotional.

Thursday - Hang Time
After VBS and lunch we are going to get together Thursday afternoon at 2:00pm to play games and hang out at the building.  We will wrap things up at 5:00pm.

Friday Night - Guy’s and Girl’s hang night
Girls will stay at the building and watch a movie. They will need $3 for pizza.  Guys will be going out to get something to eat (money for fast food) and their exact activity is yet to be determined… but it will probably involve ultimate frisbee or some other manly happening where sweat will be involved.  Everyone meets at the building at 6:00pm and we will be done at 9:00pm.

Saturday - LAKE DAY
Yep it’s time for another lake day.  We just stuck them where we could with the busy schedule.  Standard operating time 1:00pm-7:00pm, however we are going to do things a little different on the “what you should bring” front.  We have plenty of drinks left over from our last couple of get togethers, so there is no need for anyone to bring that.  We are going to get real crazy and not do hamburgers and hot dogs, the entree will be some sort of chicken cooked in some sort of way… still deciding.  Guys, bring a side item: mac and cheese, green beans, pasta salad, etc. Ill let you use your creativity.  There is no official contest, but the one who brings the best side item will probably be hoisted above everyone’s heads and heralded as a hero.  Girls can bring some sort of dessert.  Im sure the same reaction will be had for best dessert as well.  If you are a multiple gender/teen family - just bring one item of your choice.

Sunday Night
This upcoming Sunday night we are going to plan to get together as a youth group.  6:00pm-8:00pm at the building.  Snacks will be available, but real substantial dinner food should be consumed beforehand.

IMPACT
If you have a teen participating in IMPACT and haven't paid in full, well, unfortunate for your family’s financial stability... it is time to pay up.  After deposit paid, Junior IMPACTers owe $130 and Senior IMPACTers owe $190.  I will be sending out pertinent details concerning departure, what to bring, etc in email here shortly.

Summer, Interns, Bash and Dates

Well, that glorious time of year we refer to as summertime is but a few days away.  I for one am pumped about what the next couple of months has in store for us.  We have a jam packed summer and I hope your teen can jump in where they can.

One of the great things about summer is having interns to share that experience with us.  This summer Connor Gaines and Hunter Holland will be working with our group.  I have known both of them since they were in the 8th grade and I have no doubt they will do an outstanding job.  Connor is finishing his junior year at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN and Hunter is finishing her junior year at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  They will be arriving next week to start their time with us.

Welcome New 7th Graders and Their Families and Welcome Interns kick off the summer Blowout Bonanza Bash Cook-Out Extravaganza
I just don’t believe the summer can begin without the above mentioned event.  Fear not, it is in fact happening and is going down on Sunday, May 24th at 6:00pm. That’s right, we invite you and your entire family to come join us at the Cornerstone Retreat for a little Cook-out.  The Cornerstone Retreat is located just past Northside High School at:
21160 Max Vintson Rd,
Northport, AL 35475.
Now, I know that is a little ways out there but I think this place will be a great venue for a wonderful evening.  I do need a little help in some items being brought so if you would be willing to do so please let me know and Ill tell you what we need.

Date Reminder
Over the next couple of months there will be a lot going on.  Below is a reminder of the big event dates.  Of course, there will be other things sprinkled in as we go and I will let you know those as we ease our way through.

Retreat thought and a plea for assistance

Quick thought from our Retreat
I just wanted to take a minute to make a few comments about our retreat this past weekend.  As I walked away from our time together, there was one resounding feeling that continued to bounce around in my mind…. this group, I believe, is an exceptional group of teenagers.  There were seven Winshape Wilderness leaders that worked with our group through out the day on Saturday and almost all of them made it a point to come tell me how impressed they were with these kids.  Keep in mind that these people work with different groups week in and week out and it was evident to me that they saw something different in them that they didn't in most groups.  They talked about their maturity, how well they interacted with each other and the way they encouraged each other.  They listened, were always respectful and did what was asked of them with excitement and energy.   Not once did I hear a discouraging remark pointed at another person.     Beyond the obvious compliment to our teens is a compliment to you the parents…. after all, they are the product of your upbringing.  Ive worked with different groups over the years so I am fully aware that this is a great group.  This weekend was just a really good reminder to see others notice it as well.

HELP!

As most of you have noticed, we have begun a little teen room/area renovation.  Now I know you have been sitting at home, possibly lying awake in bed at times thinking “I wonder how I can help?”  Well wonder no more….  Next Saturday, May 2, we are going to have a little work day to try and put a big dent in a very large project.  We are going to meet together at 9:00am to knock a few things out.  Don't miss the fun!!
