Popsicles, Serve, lifejackets, hang, sing and retreat

Kidscamp Kick-off — Sunday, June 2 — 6:00pm

I just want to take a moment and try and clarify exactly what this is.  Each Family Group at our church has been encouraged to pick a location somewhere in our city to host an event designed to come in contact with the people in that community.  The idea is that we use this time to talk to and invite kids to our Kidscamp the upcoming week.  The UY family Group (teens) and the Boykin Family group (Some of the parents of teens) will be going to Airport Park (link to directions in google maps HERE) to hand out popsicles, gifts and invite cards to the people there.  Although this is a family group gig, obviously anyone who wants to join us is welcome.  We will just meet there at 6:00pm and should only be there probably 30-45 minutes I’m guessing.   If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me.

Kidscamp — June 3-6 — 6:00pm-8:00pm each night

Kidscamp is next week and teens have been encouraged to use this as an opportunity to serve those younger than them.  They can still sign-up to serve HERE, however the deadline to receive a free T-shirt has passed.  This should be a great way for them to learn what it means to sacrificially serve!

Lake Day #1— Saturday, June 8 — 1:00pm-7:00pm

All Families are invited to join us at Sunshine pointe for our first official Lakeday.  Guys bring a side dish of some sort and girls bring a dessert… everyone brings a pack of drinks to go in the cooler.  Burgers will be served at 5:00pm.

Hang Night #1 — June 9 — 6:00pm-8:00pm

This is simply the teens getting together to eat and hang-out. They should bring $3 to help cover the meal.

Abide #2 — June 11 — 6:00pm

We will be having a night of worship at the Boykin home.

Abide is just simply an opportunity for us to get together and spend some time in worship and prayer.  It will last about an hour.

Mystery Mission Trip — June 14-21 — $100 — 9th (going into the 9th) — Graduates

As discussed in the past, we will be turning our mystery trip into a mission trip which means we will be adventuring to undisclosed locations to serve, love and tell people about Jesus.  While this will be the primary objective for the trip, participants can expect there to be some surprise “fun” moments along the way. We will be departing Friday afternoon on June 14 and returning the following Friday.  Deadline to sign your teen up will be Sunday, May 26…. because of the nature of this trip and the planning process involved this will have to be a HARD DEADLINE... meaning I have to know who is going on that day! Jr. High Retreat — June 28-30 — Upcoming 7th & 8th grade - $50

We will be retreating near Ranburne, AL which is east of Birmingham near the Georgia state line.  The plan is to leave Friday afternoon and return Sunday Morning in time for class. If you have any questions at all about this, please reach out to me.  You can register and pay below.

UY Family Group

UY Family group will be at the building this Sunday at 6:00pm for a time of discussion.  This will be our last Family Group gathering of the year as Easter and Retreat will usher us into Summer.  

Wednesday Nights this summer

As we have done the past 2 summers we will be hitting the pause button on our Wednesday night gatherings.  This will be supplemented with 5 Abide nights of worship sprinkled throughout the summer around our other activities.  May 1st marks the beginning of our summer semester so April 24 will be our last Wednesday gathering until the fall.

Girls, Retreat Sign-up, Summer is Coming!

Girls Night - This Friday, March 29 - 6:00pm

Lindsey Cornelson will be hosting a girls night this Friday along with other girls from her family group in her home.  She is calling it the Queen Bee’s Ball and girls are to dress up for a night of games and food! It starts at 6:00pm and her address is: 3110  31st St, Northport, AL 35476.

This week we will be meeting at the building for a time of discussion at 6:00pm.  As the semester wraps up at the end of April and we end April with Easter and our Spring Retreat, April 14 will be our last family group meeting for the semester.

We will be going to Woodland Christian Camp and Retreat in Temple, GA for our Spring retreat.  Deadline to sign up will be April 14.

Just wanted to take a second to introduce you to our 2019 Summer Interns Drew Hill and Lauren Lamont.  

Drew is from Norman, Oklahoma and is finishing up his Sophomore year at the University of Oklahoma where he is majoring in Accounting.

Lauren is from Lebanon, TN and is finishing up her sophomore year at the University of Tennessee where she is majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media

UY Family Group this week

Next week is spring break so we will not be meeting this upcoming Sunday night, March 10…. We will however resume March 17 at the building for discussion.

Focus Group this Sunday

As some of you may be aware, the church has been conducting several focus groups within our congregation as well as in our community about our Church Family.  They want to have a focus group made up of teenagers and need 10-12 teens willing to walk through that process and just simply answer a few questions on what they think about our Church.  This Sunday, March 10 at 3:00pm, Jimmy Warren will be administering that Focus Group.  I tell you this because I will be asking some of your teens who are in town to participate in this and just thought you needed to be aware of what in the world they are talking about.  Anyway, just an fyi.
